THE ROLLING STONES - WINTERLAND BALLROOM CONCERTS, SAN FRANCISCO 1972

Original concert poster, c.22"x28".
Art by David Singer.

This original pre-concert poster was famously misprinted with the sharp white outline on the lower left side of the upper die. This was corrected on the second printing (after the event) and on all other later reprints. 'Tumblin' Dice' was released as a single prior to
'Exile On Main Street'.
This is the scarce genuine original, in superb condition, acquired from a person who worked for the band for ten years around this period.

CAMEL, THE SNOW GOOSE, ROYAL ALBERT HALL 1975.

LED ZEPPELIN - FOURTH ALBUM, 1971.

Original Atlantic/Kinney promo poster, 23.5"x33"

V. scarce original English language poster for Germany for
Led Zeppelin's triumphant fourth album.

The evocative photograph of the Victorian woodland worker was found by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page in a Reading junk shop, on one of Jimmy's frequent trawls. The foldout sleeve contrasted an old rural way of life with the bleak new urban landscape of the 1960s.

THE CRAMPS - SONGS THE LORD
TAUGHT US, 1980.

Original 20"x30" Illegal Records poster

Just when Punk had stagnated into workman-like orthodoxy and po-faced politics, The Cramps crazed blend of Sun-era rockabilly and 50's pulp, sci-fi and horror was something fresh. Produced by Alex Chilton, recorded at the Sam C. Phillips Recording Studio in Memphis, released on Miles Copeland's I.R.S. label.

GRACE JONES - SLAVE TO THE RHYTHM, 1985

Original Island/Manhattan promo poster, 24"x36"
Design by Jean Paul Goude.

Initially an NY disco diva, with designer and partner Jean-Paul Goude Grace Jones created a radical androgynous new image and a musical metamorphosis, one of the most memorable of the era.

THE CLASH, 1979.

Original US 1st lp promo poster, 39"x17"

The Clash's debut album was released in America in 1979 after 'Give 'Em Enough Rope', CBS feeling the debut lp too raw for radio play. Hence the mixed-period photos on this superb poster.

Springsteen's celebrated five night run at New York's Bottom Line club was a defining moment in his career and in the history of rock music.

This remarkable poster was carefully picked off the wall of the club itself at the time by an enterprising young English CBS employee, who had been queuing for tickets outside from 10 that morning.

This historic item is offered completely unrestored with all options open to the next fortunate owner. Comes with letter of provenance.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - FINALLY -1975

Original CBS promo poster 30" x 40"
Photography by Eric Meola.

Springsteen strongly took against Columbia's full-blown promotion and personally ripped down the "Finally the world is ready for Bruce Springsteen" posters in the lobby at his first UK concert at the Hammersmith Odeon. This is one of the originals that survived the Boss's displeasure, one of the all-time great rock posters.

THE HIGH NUMBERS - 1964

Photograph (hand printed from original negative), 16"x20".

Aiming the band squarely at a Mod audience manager Pete Meaden changed The Who's name to the High Numbers. One of the venues they played in that summer of 1964 was the Railway Hotel in Wealdstone - it was to prove significant.

£285.00 conservation framed.

THE HIGH NUMBERS - 1964

Proof hand printed from original negative, 16"x20".

Absolutely wonderful shot of Moon. The band's inimitably dynamic style was already bubbling up even at this early stage. The Railway saw the birth of Townsend's guitar smashing. Not to be outdone, Moon kicked over his drum kit soon after.

£285.00 conservation framed.

THE HIGH NUMBERS - 1964

Proof hand printed from original negative, 16"x20".

Manager-to-be Kit Lambert saw a line of scooters and Mods outside the hotel. Inside he saw the perfect band for his planned Mod movement documentary. He filmed the band performing, of which some terrific footage survives. Note classic Moon expression.

£285.00 conservation framed.

THE HIGH NUMBERS - 1964

Proof hand printed from original negative, 16"x20".

Another brilliant shot (the band's first official photo shoot, 1st June 1964), with a deceptively angelic Moon. The photographer is believed to be Richard Rosser, working for Rave magazine, a shoot then manager Pete Meaden would have organised to highlight the band's new Mod credentials.

£285.00 conservation framed.

DIANA ROSS, 1973

Original Paris concert poster, 36"x24"

Diana Ross had enjoyed huge success with her portrayal of Billie Holiday in 'Lady Sings The Blues' the previous year (hence the white Gardenia). The soundtrack album reached No.1.

Almost 50 years previously Josephine Baker had taken Paris by storm at the same theatre.

£375.00 conservation framed.

BRIAN FERRY - SLAVE TO LOVE, 1985

Original promo poster, 40"x60"
Sleeve Design by Antony Price, Bryan Ferry and Simon Puxley, Artwork by Cream

Quite amazing full-size promo poster, with a discrete (see 'Black And Blue' for the alternative approach) but unmistakeable Bondage aspect that elicited some murmurs of disapproval.

The poster is an unmistakable tribute to the Hollywood film posters of the 1940's.

THE STONE ROSES - ELEPHANT STONE, 1988.

Original 12" Silvertone Records sleeve proof, 14"x25"
Art by John Squire

A huge fan of the Clash, Squire's interest in Jackson Pollock was sparked by Paul Simonon's use of Pollock-style paint techniques, famously on the band's stage clothes. For the Roses, the arrival of new bassist Mani saw everything fit into place, and the resulting single, the shimmering 'Elephant Stone', saw the birth of the band's classic sound.
